In 1995, inspired by a class he took while at Art Center College of Design, Hoss imagined the possibility of two seemingly incongruous materials working together – copper, with its luminous, reflective warmth and chalk pastels, with their brilliant, chromatic radiance. Through much exploration and experimentation, he soon developed this signature technique, which helps bring to life his personal experiences and impressions of the world. As far as we know, no one else works in Hoss “invented” method. After more than 20 years and 750 images, he continues to refine and experiment with these one-of-a-kind pieces.
